    Mr. Wigglesworth

    Sir

They are examined by the Catalogue, and no duplicates.99 I know part of them are of little vallue, but they are a Guift, and therefore not to be refused, and the rather because he has a large library cost him 7. or £800 and he once thought of bequeathing them to your College, but circumstances have been altered in some yeares past. May the Design of the Pious Donors of these and other books sent for the servise of your Students be attended with a Divine blessing is the desire of

He has ordred about £50 Star, in books for your library and Mr. Hunt is to buy them, which I design to forward so soon as I can.

    August 4.

I have letters from Mr. B[enjamin] C[olman] dated June 23 acquainting me with some uneasines you labour under at the College. I hope you will not take any hasty resolutions, as Providence has fixt you there, and by what I heare you discharge your duty with aprobation, which is much to my satisfaction. When your letter comes, or from your bord of Overseers, I shall return a civil answer, and do what I shall be advised to by freinds on the spot, whose advise I think I have followed in every step hitherto of my Donation and orders, and what concerns me be reddy to make you easy in any needfull alteration of my Rules, which are alterable, by the power I reserved to my self.

I doubt not but the proper Person will return my Brother Hollis a letter of thanks in English for his usefull present of books to your library, which I think you wanted. He is now at Epsome for the Aire. I have exceeded the Gift he ordred me, if he is not pleased to discharg the Whole you will take the remainder as an additional offering from me, but do not notice that in your letter to him, because It may be, his Generosity may pay the Whole, when he comes to towne. My sincere love to you, hoping God will direct and fix your abode, comfortable to your self, and for the good of many pretious Souls, that Glory may redound to our Exalted Head and Saviour Christ Jesus.
