Errors Excepted
Thomas Hubbard
Wills, Gifts, and Grants, pp. 45–46. The account goes on to 1772, but I have stopped with the accounting of 1755. Thomas Hubbard (A.B. 1721) served as College Treasurer from 1752 to 1773. Robert Boyle’s gift was to be used for the support of two ministers to the Indians; it came to the College through the Society for Propagation of the Gospel among the Indians. Among the recipients were definitely Oliver Peabody (A.B. 1721, died 1752); Joseph Mayhew (A.B. 1730), John Sergeant (Yale, 1729), and Stephen Badger (A.B. 1747); others were probably John Angier, who preached in East Bridgewater (A.B. 1720), and William Fessenden (A.B. 1737), teacher at Cambridge.
